Steffi Rothweiler started sailing in 1989 in the beginners class Optimist on Lake Constance. At the age of 14, she joined her sister and switched to the youth boat 420 and in 1997 to the Olympic double-hand class 470. In 2004, she took part in the Athens Olympic Games.
