The Star boat – or simply the Star – is the double-handed keel boat among the Olympic sailing classes. It is not only the oldest, but also the most renowned Olympic class. Many great athletes of the international sailing sport right up to the star sailors of the famous America’s Cup have been sailing the Star boat or are still doing so today.
From the beginning of 2006, the pinta racing team supports the German team of Marc Aurel Pickel from Kiel and Ingo Borkowski from Potsdam. Their goal is first to qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Bejing, China, when the sailing regattas will take place off the port city of Qingdao. And once they are in the Olympic competition, their intent is to win a medal for Germany.
